An artistic confrontation with the global phenomenon of trafficking in women. Taking an unconventional approach, filmmaker Anja Salomonowitz creates a ‘fictional documentary' where the true stories of women subjected to trafficking are told by everyday people close to - but not a part of - the events: A customs officer, a village inhabitant, a bar-keeper in a bordello, a woman diplomat and a taxi driver. Ultimately, they talk about false promises, exploitation and disappointment. “[The film] is about what people think up while they watch the film. The images that you imagine of the stories of the female trafficking are the actual plot of the film. Something that you don't see on the screen. It's like in real life, because these stories are suppressed from the society's quotidian consciousness.” - Anja Salomonowitz
