“We believe happy people should not worry about hidden things. Our spirits are offended if we think too much.” Set in the Arctic Circle, The Journals of Knud Rasmussen poetically explores the first contact between European explorers and the Inuit people during Rasmussen's great sled journey of 1922. Rasmussen encounters an Inuit shaman and his rebellious daughter trying to hold on to their traditional way of life despite the introduction of Christianity and its destructive effect. The Journals of Knud Rasmussen follows up Zacharias Kunuk and Norman Cohn's award-winning 2001 debut, Atanarjut: The Fast Runner. “Who stayed behind the 20th century? Everybody had to move into it - Inuit, white people, Africans, people in Papua New Guinea, lizards and snakes. Everybody goes where time goes.” - Norman Cohn
