JELLYFISH

Winner of the Camera d'Or and the Young Critics' prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival.In this comic and often magical ensemble piece, four characters in Tel Aviv, touched by loneliness, are looking for some kind of connection, however tenuous. There is Batya who has little more than a leaky ceiling in her apartment until a strange girl emerges from the sea and becomes her shadow. Keren and Michael are just married but their honeymoon plans are annulled when the beautiful bride breaks her leg. Joy, a Filipino carer, can't escape the irony that she is not at home looking after her own child but helping one of her elderly clients reconcile with an estranged daughter. Jellyfish is a whimsical exploration of existential angst.
