The Pope, 50,000 pilgrims, one public toilet.

It's 1988, and as Pope John Paul II makes his way through South America his journey guides him towards the poverty-stricken Uruguayan border town of Melo. Soon, word spreads that thousands will make the pilgrimage across the Brazilian border to see the holy leader.
Local residents invest their life savings to prepare for an unprecedented tourism boom, setting upstalls of chorizo and cake, but petty smuggler Beto hatches a plan to outdo them all and make his fortune with a public toilet… all he has to do is smuggle one across the border.
A humorous tale of an unusual entrepreneurial enterprise, The Pope's Toilet is about dreams and aspirations, and the gap between imagination and reality.
