“Should people be sitting in the theater or rioting in the streets?… once there was a man whose work made no distinction between the two.” - Boston Globe

For lovers of theatre and those who create it, Theater of War follows a 2006 production in New York's Central Park of Bertolt Brecht's epic play Mother Courage and her Children. This raw behind-the-scenes glimpse of the lead up to the staging of the play is also an essay on the war in Iraq and the role of theatre in social protest.

Encompassing the complete creative process, Theater of War explores the history of Brecht and the origins of the original play, as well as allowing an intimate look at Meryl Streep's work with the play's director in her role as Mother Courage.
