“You can't touch me now. I'm one of the stately homos of England.” - Quentin Crisp

John Hurt returns to the incorrigible and always colourful life of writer, raconteur and gay icon Quentin Crisp more than 30 years after first playing the role in 1975's The Naked Civil Servant.

An Englishman in New York picks up Crisp's story in the 70s, where a frank TV interview sees him pilloried by the British public. Realising he's finished in England, Crisp decides - at the age of 70 - to start again in the US.

Endlessly quotable, always controversial and never apologetic, Crisp is a consummate entertainer - full of witticisms and always aware of an audience, never dropping his facade for even his closest friends.

“Brings John Hurt's now-classic imagining of ‘Britain's most famous homosexual' wit Quentin Crisp, to a satisfying, mellow close.” - Variety
