Les Mistons

Les Mistons recalls the doings of five French boys during one summer when their childhood comes to an end and they stumble clumsily into adolescence. Baffled by this change, they express their bewilderment through an awakening sensuality towards Bernadette. a former playmate who has grown into a young woman. They pursue her with a kind of desperate mockery . . . Based on a short story, the film was originally to have been first part of a trilogy dealing with aspects of youth. Everything in it is fresh, intuitive and real. It received the prize for direction at the World Short Film Festival, Brussels, 1958.
