In adolescence ail individuals display a tendency to see themselves as greater and stronger than they may later prove to be under the stress of pain or disillusion. With maturity this superior image, the 'super-ego', is buried and the circumstances which prevented the achievement of greatness are accepted.

There are, however, such episodes in history as wars and revolutions, when the limitations of a humdrum existence seem to explode. Such an episode was the German occupation of Western Europe.

This is the story of Ducker, a weakling, who finds that he is the exact double of a secret agent, and who has an almost incredible series of adventures.
