Home on the Range is a documentary in two parts, explaining firstly the role that U S bases such as Pine Gap, Nurrungar and North West Cape would play in a nuclear war, their strategic value as part of the nuclear deterrent and the effects on Australia as a nuclear target.

The second part describes the effect of the U S alliance on Australian politics, in particular the Labor Government of Gough Whitlam with the focus on the U S base at Pine Gap, one of the CSA's most cherished assets The film traces the downfall of the Whitlam Government and the role of the CIA in those events
