Resurgence is the story of the recent rise in Ku Klux Klan terror and the growth of the movement for social and economic justice. Dramatic events and characters emerge to tell two sides of a political conflict raging in the U.S. today.

In Mississippi, one follows a strike, already two years in progress, where 200 people led by the black women employees have taken on a powerful company, including a plant manager who is a known Klansman indicted for killing civil rights organizer, Vernon Dahmers. The other side of the film revolves around the formation of the United Racist Front, a coalition of Nazi, Klan and other "white supremacist" forces. One picks up this story at a rural rally and cross burning in North Carolina. Eventually one learns that these Klansmen and Nazis, ranting at a small rally, are the same people who were involved in the murder of five people at a peaceful Saturday morning rally in North Carolina.

In the context of the rapidly increasing industrialization of the southern U.S., the film analyzes the relationship between these two separate movements: one of right-wing terror, the other for social and economic justice. Finally, Resurgence points to certain directions for the future.
