We see an average family with two school-age children and small baby. Both parents work at jobs outside of the house. The wife puts in the same hours as her husband, but makes much less in wages. In addition, she has the traditional responsibility for household chores and taking care of the children.

The film takes its title from the final sequence, the woman dream of a better life style, one in which her husband share
the household tasks, thus setting a different kind of example for their children. In the dream both boy and girl help their mother and father with the domestic chores. The film end;
with a question: Is this really "The Impossible Dream"?
