Director Hiroshi Teshigahara apparently decided to make this documentary in 1959, when he first visited Europe, with his father and discovered the works of dynamic Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi in Barcelona.

Regarded by many as a genius, Gaudi died in a tragic accident in 1926, but left a legacy of inspiration and pleasure for the generations to follow. His Church of the Sagrada Familia inspires awe and disbelief from the locals and tourists who flock to its still-to-be-completed facade every year. And, as well as a huge people's park, Gaudi sites still on view in Barcelona include private houses and apartment blocks and even some furniture.

Gaudi's innovative and flamboyant style has been credited with influencing artistic contemporaries of the calibre of Pablo Picasso , Joan Miro and Salvador Dali.

In this documentary, shot on location in Spain, Teshigahara and his Japanese crew explore the life and work of one of this century's seminal artists.
