CHURCH OF LIBERATION (1985) [Feature]

Brazil (MIFF 1986 )
Director: Silvio Da-Rin

The film moves from a sparsely populated region of the Amazon to the urban centres of Sao Paulo and Rio and traces church activism, ranging from efforts of individuals to improve agricultural conditions to the aggressive Christian presence in the workers' movement. The church involvement in politics of liberation is endorsed by the film as its natural role, and suggested as its only possible future direction.
