DUI (Driving Under The Influence) originated as a benefit concert for a member of the Los Angeles band Severed Head In A Bag who was picked up by the Los Angeles Police Department for alcohol consumption. Director Spike Stewart and producer Cathleen Doyle have produced an outlandish and compulsively irreverent cult music documentary containing thirteen performances from the LA underground mussc scene between 1982 and 1985. Notable quotes from this extraordinary document include: "We like to let people into our gigs for free and then charge them $5 to get out", and "It's better to have something unusual that a few people like a lot, than something that everybody likes for 15 minutes."
