Una Novia Para David captures the situation of a young kid who leaves his village in 1966 to go to the University of Havana with a typical Cuban graffiti style, fast pacing, lots af music (Beatles and all) and a good cross-section of people. The film's major interest, however, is its portrayal of Cuban society and the ability to make a film with a wide popular appeal. Despite claims that it lacks an ideological premise, its clear message is made to surface in an exciting and non-oppressive manner.
