The film is based on documentary footage (of the now extinct Tasmaman Tiger) shot in Hobart in the 1930s. It shows the last Tasmaman tiger in captivity pacing up and down in its cage in the zoo. From this archival footage, the filmmaker has built a beautiful and radiating coloured animation which is a kind of filmic memory of this creature. The soundtrack is both whimsical music and a voiceover of various people recalling sightings of the tiger.

Nominated for children as animation at its best, this film also won 1990 ATOM Awards (awards to short, educational films and videotapes) as judged by both the Children's Judging Panel and the adult panel.
