A simple story set to music - Colin Dean's light-hearted and charming contribution to the DOI's 1950 films on the state capitals of Australia. Dean was a leading young director at the DOI before he left to join the ABC and make their first series of historical dramas, Stormy Petrel, The Outcasts etc. When he was training in England, one of his early films had been compared by Sight and Sound to the work of the young Rene Clair, and his earlier DOI work was of great variety and originality, including a 10 minute training film made in one take.
