Only a handful of the Yaghan people are now alive, the last of the Indians who inhabited the southern tip of South America. These brave sea-faring people could survive the hardships of a cold and hostile environment, but not the coming of the Europeans. Even the supposedly enlightened figure of Charles Darwin referred to them as "miserable and degraded savages". There are parallels between the fate of the Yaghans and the Aborigines which are all too obvious. This poignant tribute features the striking mountain and coastal scenery of Tierra del Fuego, once the home of the Yaghans.
