Middle-aged bachelor Joseph Ambrose Hilditch (Bob Hoskins) lives in a dark, cluttered house in Birmingham. He is the kind of man that neighbours would describe as a kindly soul who kept himself to himself. Methodical in his job as a catering supervisor, Hilditch disguises his dark soul. When Felicia arrives from Ireland in search of her lover, Hilditch soon crosses her path. The unexpected becomes the possible and Felicia's Journey twists and turns between psychological drama, classic horror and fine-tuned character study. Atom Egoyan spares us the gruesome details of Hilditch's past, instead offering small glimpses of his tormented childhood. Restrained and crafted to perfection, Felicia's Journey screened in competition at Cannes this year to enormous acclaim.
