When Sam Phillips opened a storefront recording studio in Memphis 50 years ago, he tapped the rich musical vein of the Mississippi delta and instantly sparked a revolution. Sun Records superstars including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins inspired generations. Sun also offered artists like BB King the opportunity to reach a mass audience and the steady stream of raw talent that crossed the threshold of Sun guaranteed the future of rock and roll.
Good Rockin' Tonight combines contemporary interviews with rare archival footage of rock's founding fathers to chronicle their impact on the music and artists of today. Performers of the stature of Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, Bryan Ferry and Mark Knopfler team up with Kid Rock, Third Eye Blind, Ben Folds and a number of the original Sun stable to re-record classics like I Walk The Line, Teddy Bear, Cry, Cry, Cry and Honey Don't.

Bruce Sinofsky began his career working with the Maysles Brothers (Gimme Shelter, MIFF 2001) before forming his own company with Joe Berlinger. Together the pair made such documentary classics as Brothers Keeper (1992), Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills (1996) and Revelations: Paradise Lost 2 (2001), all of which have screened at MIFF.
