Acknowledged as the revelation of the Official Competition at Cannes this year, and the recipient of the Grand Jury Prize and the Best Actor award—shared between the two leads—Uzak is a haunting tale of displacement and longing from Turkish auteur Nun Bilge Ceyian.

Yusuf has left his small rural town for the bustle of Istanbul, hoping to gain employment on a harbour boat. He moves in with his uncle, Mahmut, a single photographer who resents the sudden intrusion. The obsessive bachelor, who clings to the routines of his solitary life, and the passive young man, both search for the possibility of a connection in the harsh world in which they live.
