“This movie is the story of the band, but it is also an insight into a moment in time that will never be repeated.” - producer Dick Wolf

Blessed with unseen footage by the surviving members of The Doors, filmmaker Tom DiCillo (Living in Oblivion) proceeded to make this documentary - the “the anti-Oliver Stone film,” as keyboardist Ray Manzarek refers to it.

Narration from Johnny Depp weaves together the clips of the band with newsreel footage of the time, and the Lizard King himself - Jim Morrison - book-ends the film in ‘lost' footage of HWY, an aborted experimental film shot in 1969.

“Besides its archival richness, the strength of DiCillo's documentary is that it is genuinely cinematic, a visual journey.” - Screen International
