“Sly and suggestive, Lourdes is a cosmic black comedy that bumps up against the metaphysical.” - Time Out New York

Skeptical multiple sclerosis sufferer Christine (Sylvie Testud) claims she isn't on a pilgrimage - she just likes to visit the French Catholic shrine of Lourdes as an excuse to get out. But like the 1.5 million other visitors that Lourdes receives each year, she's going through the motions with the blind hope that miracles can happen even amongst the tourists and souvenir stores.

With slow-paced dry wit and a masterful visual sensibility, filmmaker Jessica Hausner (Lovely Rita; Hotel, MIFF 2004) achieves a quiet triumph observing the inner-workings of the inexplicable.

Multi-award winner including the FIPRESCI prize at the 2009 Venice Film Festival.
