“It's hard to find adequate words to convey the rare beauty of this film… its expressive thrust passes through your guts before hitting your head.” - Film International

The enigmatic Kaspar Hauser is washed up on a desolate island. The Sheriff (Vincent Gallo) carries the mysterious figure to a compound where he attempts to educate him in such matters as DJing. On the other hand, the Duchess, who rules the town, is threatened by the presence of this foreigner and orders The Pusher (also played by Gallo) to fix things.

An electrifying, poetic retelling of the Kaspar Hauser tale - one of Germany's greatest real-life mysteries - writer-director Davide Manuli's visceral post-Western pushes film form to surreal heights. Shot in luminous black and white with a pumping soundtrack by Vitalic, The Legend of Kaspar Hauser joins the ranks of such post-apocalyptic works as El Topo, Stalker, Alphaville and Dead Man.
