Arguably one of the greatest directors to have ever lived, Fellini forever changed the way we watched, understood and made film. This year MIFF is holding a special, one-off screening of his revolutionary 1960 opus, La Dolce Vita, featuring a fully restored print courtesy of Gucci and The Film Foundation.
A poignant and enigmatic exploration of a decaying Italy lost in decadence, La Dolce Vita was one of the first films to abandon traditional narrative in favour of a freeform episodic structure. Banned in Italy but instantly recognised as a masterpiece by critics, it has gone on to become one of the most revered films in the history of cinema.

This print was restored by Cineteca di Bologna at L'Immagine Ritrovata Laboratory in association with The Film Foundation, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia-Cineteca Nazionale, Pathé, Fondation Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé, Mediaset - Medusa, Paramount Pictures and Cinecittà Luce.
