"A darkly comic send-up of revenge movies." – Hollywood Reporter

Dwight is a vagrant living in the empty beach houses of the wealthy when he gets word that a man from his past is being released from prison. Instantly, Dwight springs into action, and puts himself on a path of bloody revenge. But for an average Joe with no resources, revenge is going to prove very difficult.

Writer/director Jeremy Saulnier (DOP of I Used to be Darker, MIFF 13) raised much of the film's budget through crowdfunding website Kickstarter, and less than a year later his film was premiering to rapturous reception in the Cannes Film Festival's Directors Fortnight. Walking the line between arthouse and genre thriller, Blue Ruin introduces an exciting new cinematic voice to American independent cinema.

"It's rare that a genre-film takes the chances of this one and succeeds so resoundingly." – Twitch
