"A road movie/coming-of-ager that's so wondrously quirky and simpatico with its subjects, it'll hold audiences' hearts captive long after its magical end." – Variety

In the pretty town of Numazu, two young sisters discover their estranged father is dying and are sent by their still-bitter mother to be by his side. When he passes away while they are en route, the girls are left to attend the awkward funeral of the man they don't know, deal with his relatives and come to terms with their own abandonment issues.

Filled with touching moments of poignancy and surprising black humour, this cheerful tale delivers a sophisticated look at family dynamics, exploring the relationships between sisters, mothers and daughters while sidestepping obvious sentimentality.

"A life-affirming film whose subject is death." – Screen Daily
