Based on psychiatrist and revolutionary theorist Frantz Fanon's controversial yet influential masterpiece of anti-colonialism The Wretched of the Earth, Concerning Violence presents an absorbing visual narrative of the psychological effects of oppression, both on the oppressed and on the oppressors. Narrated by singer Lauryn Hill and utilising recently discovered archival material chosen specifically to enhance the power of the text, the film is simultaneously a call to arms for a more humane First World, and a reminder of Fanon's warning that violence will be met with violence.
