Channelling the spirits of Jacques Tati and Eric Rohmer, MIFF favourite Hong Sang-soo's latest is a funny, charming ménage-à-quatre perfect for fans and newcomers alike.

In this comedy of manners, film-school student Sunhi (played by Hong regular Jung Yumi) asks her professor for a letter of recommendation to study in the USA. She takes issue with its contents and pushes for a rewrite. With the professor's true intentions soon to be known, Sunhi also encounters a needy ex-boyfriend and a brooding college senior who begins to fall for her.

Advice is shared as Sunhi's suitors tumble through awkward situations infused with drinking, confused romantic allusions and farcical comings and goings. With a light touch, Our Sunhi plays in the space between how we see ourselves and how other people view us.

Hong Sang-soo's (Nobody's Daughter Haewon, MIFF 2013; In Another Country, MIFF 2012) 15th feature, Our Sunhi won him the Best Director Award at the 2013 Locarno Film Festival.

"Delights as it orchestrates the seriocomic ping-ponging of a canny young woman and her three equally hapless suitors." – Variety
