"By the end of Kim Longinotto's harrowing Dreamcatcher, I could barely catch my breath." – RogerEbert.com

"It is hard to trust after being on the streets for so long," notes former sex worker Brenda Myers-Powell, now mentoring Chicago women pounding the same pavements through her Dreamcatcher Foundation. It's a statement that hails back to her own drug-addicted days under the name Breazy, but also remains a reminder of the challenges she faces in helping others seek new futures.

Renowned documentarian Kim Longinotto (Pink Saris, MIFF 2011; Rough Aunties, MIFF 2009) won the World Cinema Directing Documentary Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival for her unflinching look at Myers-Powell's efforts, in the filmmaker's latest examination of the marginalisation of women worldwide.

Here, her cinema vérité approach lets her inspiring heroine do the talking in a portrait of raw real-life circumstances handled with empowerment and honesty.

"Myers-Powell has a fierce wit and forthright intelligence that brightens even the darkest moments … intensely moving." – Variety
