Rudderless and self-destructive, James deals with the death of his father by taking off to Mexico … until his mother's cancer returns, and he must come home to care for her. Stuck in the hive of New York, he does his best to be there for his ailing mother but finds the hedonistic lure of the city's endless nightclubs and bars difficult to resist.
Featuring Cynthia Nixon and Girls star Christopher Abbott – both terrific – James White is the semi-autobiographical debut feature from writer/director Josh Mond, producer of Martha Marcy May Marlene (MIFF 2011). With an energetic pace and unwavering honesty, the film received rave reviews after its Sundance premiere, where it also won an audience award for Mond.
