"The film abounds with aural rhythms, and it generates a gloriously enthralling sense of depth and movement." – Cineuropa

In the midst of a vast Colombian sugarcane plantation, an old homestead bears witness to domestic turmoil. After a 17-year absence, the middle-aged patriarch of the family returns home to find his adult son, Gerardo, bedridden from air pollution, and his wife and daughter-in-law left to spend their days toiling in the surrounding fields. As the smoke continues to billow from nearby burn-offs, Gerardo's life hangs in the balance.

Director César Augusto Acevedo was awarded the Caméra d'Or for best first film at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for this gentle, slow-paced, often inventively shot exploration of the ravages of time and the human cost wrought by industry.

"[Weaves] a haunting allegory through painterly compositions." – Variety
