"Winning performances and a light directorial touch make for a very accessible and sweet story about disability and coming out." – Hollywood Reporter

Laila is a musically gifted student determined not to let her cerebral palsy stand in the way of her academic achievement. After being awarded a scholarship, she moves from India to attend New York University where she meets Nima, forming a unique friendship that will lead to a joyful sexual and emotional awakening.

Energised by the irrepressible, life-loving spirit of the characters, director Shonali Bose and her talented cast eschew sentimentality to create an exuberant coming-of-age film that celebrates difference. Winner of the Award for Best Asian Film at the Toronto Film Festival, it's a refreshingly original take on the teen movie.
