"The best American horror film of the past twenty years." – Filmmaker Magazine

Rocky, Money and Alex are a trio of down-on-their-luck Detroit teens who rob wealthy homes to get by. When they hear about a blind war vet sitting on a massive pay-out, they see him as the perfect victim: an easy way to turn their financial fortunes around. They couldn’t be more wrong!

Following his 2013 remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 classic The Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez returns with his highly anticipated first original feature. Co-written with Rodo Sayagues and produced by Raimi and Rob Tapert, this brutally muscular thriller doesn’t disappoint. Evil Dead’s Jane Levy and Avatar’s Stephen Lang lead a pitch-perfect cast in which no one is innocent, leaving audience sympathies on constantly shifting, morally ambiguous quicksand. Foregoing gore for impeccably intense scares, Don’t Breathe is a relentlessly Hitchcockian labyrinth of claustrophobic horror and suspense recalling You’re Next (MIFF 2013), Panic Room and Switchblade Romance (MIFF 2004).

"Brutal and delightfully twisted … a blisteringly fun thrill ride that’s a perfect showcase for Alvarez’s macabre cinematic sensibilities." – Daily Dead
