Ana, an irreverent fashion model, is introduced to a young photographer's assistant and spends an afternoon walking the streets of Barcelona with him. Their rapport soon turns to romance and, smitten, he invites her back to his studio, where they talk, dance and make love.
A playful, at times acidic comedy, Carlos Durán's Each Time That… is a marked deviation from the creative norms of Franco's Spain; its sensibilities more in tune with the liberated aesthetic of the French New Wave and the pop culture paraphernalia of Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up (MIFF 1976). Incorporating silent film pastiche, advertising stills and a mid-film detour through boy-band music videos, Each Time That… remains one of the Escuela de Barcelona's most entertaining works.
