Joan Allen, Sam Neill, Simon Akbarian and Shirley Henderson star in Sally Potter’s rhythmic rumination on love, culture and class – a response to September 11, and one of the most divisive films of her career.

With its lead characters remaining nameless and its dialogue uttered in iambic pentameter, Sally Potter’s sixth film marked a stylistically daring, emotionally profound and compellingly acted return to her more experimental filmmaking.

She (Joan Allen) is an unhappily married molecular biologist. He (Simon Abkarian) is a former Beirut surgeon turned London cook. When they meet at a dinner party, sparks fly. With Sam Neill playing her politician husband and Shirley Henderson a cleaner who witnesses their passionate affair, Yes hops from the UK to Lebanon to Cuba to explore the conflicts that define us: of religious and political beliefs, of blossoming and broken bonds, and of battling to be yourself.

'A movie unlike any other I have seen or heard ... alive and daring, not a rehearsal of safe material and styles.' – Roger Ebert
