Australia (MIFF 2018 , Virtual Reality)

From photographers Trent Parke and Narelle Autio, in collaboration with Matthew Bate (Once Upon a Time in the Western Suburbs, MIFF 2017; Shut Up Little Man! An Audio Misadventure, MIFF 2011), comes this multi-channel VR experience that re-contextualises the backyard game of cricket as a metaphor for family.

Parke is the prestigious Magnum Photos’ only Australian member; Autio is a two-time Walkley Award winner. Together with Bate they’ve created a surreally immersive love letter to the sport as artform, presented through a poetic study of biomechanical motion, exquisitely shot in luminous black-and-white.
