Two frequently stoned buddies contend with, and try to cover up, the death of their bandmate in this uniquely weird, hilarious and poignant slice of Alabama wrongness from the co-director of Swiss Army Man.

Zeke, Earl and Dick are just your regular Southern good ol' boys: best buddies and bandmates who share a love of drinking, fireworks and getting high. Unfortunately, when Dick accidentally dies after a night of reckless shenanigans, Zeke and Earl panic. After dropping him off at the hospital, they scarper and then try to hide the truth from Dick’s family and the law. But what exactly is the truth? What went down that night?

Born and raised in Alabama, director Daniel Scheinert calls himself the redneck half of directing duo the Daniels – best known for their music videos (including DJ Snake and Lil John’s’s Turn Down for What) and for the award-winning feature Swiss Army Man, aka the film in which Daniel Radcliffe plays a farting corpse. As with that film, The Death of Dick Long subverts expectations, delivering an endearing portrayal of its characters no matter how stupid or taboo their actions may seem. Scheinert, who also plays the doomed Dick, has crafted an ironic yet empathetic and layered comedy of errors.

“Gut-bustingly hilarious … a pitch-black comedy akin to a white trash version of Fargo.” – The Playlist
