“Abel Ferrara digs deep into his personal life to deliver a sweet, honest character study of a man struggling with guilt and anxiety.” – Little White Lies

For his first dramatic feature in five years, the legendary American filmmaker Abel Ferrara (Pasolini, MIFF 2015) enlisted his muse, Willem Dafoe, to play Tommaso, a thinly veiled version of the indefatigable director as he tries to reconcile his filmmaking and career while living in Rome with a new wife and child – played by Ferrara’s real-life partner, Cristina Chiriac, and their daughter, Anna Ferrara.

Wandering fluidly between reality and Tomasso’s seemingly splintering imagination, Ferrara bakes a lifetime of passionate artistry, personal scandal and generous self-mythologising, while Dafoe stretches out in a combustible lead performance that finds the genius, cruelty and complexity in the artist behind such classics as Bad Lieutenant, Ms. 45, and The Addiction.

“Ferrara’s most personal film … a gripping look at the process of escaping to a better life, only to find that the old one follows along at every turn.” – IndieWire

Please note that while this film features predominantly English dialogue with some Italian dialogue, the Italian dialogue remains unsubtitled in this film as per director's intention.
