While his breakout feature Enys Men (MIFF 2022) was wowing the international festival circuit, Mark Jenkin crafted this melancholic 2022 dispatch from his holiday in New York, a city whose familiar sights and sounds are rendered in the filmmaker’s signature super-8 style. Inspired by reminiscences of movies and punctuated with a spot of celebrity spotting, the film finds a city in the grip of sociopolitical chaos.
