Ricardo Rifo has farmed peacefully for decades, unable to speak of his apprenticeship to Íngrid Olderöck, the feared Chilean secret-police enforcer who sadistically tortured the dictatorship’s enemies using trained dogs. Filmed in raw black-and-white, Rifo and his own dogs wander a wildfire-devastated wasteland, whose bold textures speak eloquently of political atrocities, traumatic memories and ecological destruction.
