Experience time on a planetary scale as rhythms of day and night pulsate in harmony with the celestial bodies in a landscape’s seasonal light.
Over a 22-month time lapse, a glassy Austrian lake reflects chasing clouds. Day and night set sky-rhythms for seasonal light pulses, from bright translucence to milky monochrome. Time accelerates to heartbeats, then eye blinks; sun and stars flash across the screen like exhilarating lightning strikes. In letting us glimpse infinite planetary time, Johann Lurf – the subject of a mini-retrospective within MIFF 2026’s special 3D shorts package Cinema of Spectacle: Experimental Visions – reminds us that we are the quick ones.
