A brilliantly multilayered, textural homage to a pioneer of queer rights.

Inspired by Filipina American paintbrush maker and queer rights activist Rosalie “Rose” Bamberger, this playful, reflective new work from queer Japanese American artist and scholar TT Takemoto uses an abstract collage of archival images to reanimate a forgotten chapter of history, in which the Daughters of Bilitis (of which Rose was a founding member) became the first US lesbian political rights organisation.
