The Wind in Ash
PRESENTED BY

A genderqueer photographer uses their camera to reframe memories of childhood alienation in this tender tale about the hopeful potential of images to reconcile the past.
Having returned from studying in the UK to attend their father’s funeral in their rural Chinese village, Xiaoxiao seeks to reconnect with their mother through the camera’s viewfinder. Tender, precise and emotionally satisfying, Sun Kun’s semi-autobiographical film uses photographs to express the things we can’t say in words.
