Twelve Tales Told
Viewer Advice: Contains stroboscopic imagery
Hollywood plays itself in this cheeky deconstruction of iconic studio idents.
At once an affectionate ode to Hollywood studios and a playful subversion of global hyper-capitalism, Johann Lurf’s wickedly amusing 2014 short slices and dices pre-feature idents from the familiar likes of Universal, Disney, Paramount and Warner Bros. until they become a glitching symphony of chaos. Seen from the vantage point of the big studio mergers a decade later, Twelve Tales Told becomes a poignant requiem for a once-mighty cinematic model.
