Vertical Shapes in a Horizontal Landscape
Mark Jenkin travels along the south coast of England on a pilgrimage to the Dungeness home of artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman.
Evoking the artists who lived and worked on England’s south coast, this 2018 travelogue finds typically garrulous director Mark Jenkin en route to the home of none other than the great Derek Jarman, whose 1990 film The Garden inspired him to pick up his first camera. A lovely, melancholic slice of a forgotten world, captured on vivid super-8 film stock.
