What Do the Maknines Dream Of
À quoi rêvent les Maknines
PRESENTED BY

Two young Algerians spend one last sweet day together, hoping to sell a caged bird before flying away to seek new lives.
Lose yourself in the boisterous, labyrinthine streets of Algiers with Kacim – who raises and sells goldfinches, or maknines – and his dear friend Malek, both of whom are about to cross the Mediterranean in pursuit of music careers in France. As they wander affectionately and dance dreamily in the club, the caged bird’s song evokes their warring feelings of escape and captivity.
