Whispers of a Burning Scent
A quiet musician accused of a fraudulent marriage must make a profound decision, but his inner truth remains elusive.
A stoic wedding-band keyboardist is dragged from a gig to face court: the adult children of his much older wife say he exploited their mother’s dementia to sell her properties, but will drop fraud charges if he divorces her. Like the frankincense he burns for his ailing wife, truths about devotion, dignity and loss waft mysteriously through Mo Harawe’s (The Village Next to Paradise, MIFF 2024) observational drama, supported by Cate Blanchett’s Displacement Film Fund.
