Completed in 1870, the Melbourne Town Hall is at the heart of the city’s cultural and civic activity.
• Primary entry via the Swanston Street portico (copper doors)
• Ramped/step-free access is available to the left of the Swanston Street; there is also an entrance off Collins Street that provides access to the Main Hall.
Security and bag checks: events at the Town Hall commonly operate with front-of-house security and bag checks – follow venue directions on prohibited items and entry procedures.
Accessibility
Melbourne Town Hall has multiple public entrances and step-free routes. All floors and major event spaces are serviced by lifts, and there is step-free access from the street.
Three principal entry points: the Swanston Street portico (copper doors); a ramped access area to the left of the portico (servicing Lower Town Hall spaces); and an entrance on Collins Street (servicing the Main Hall).
There is a clear step-free path of travel to the main entrance, automatic sliding doors at the concierge entry, and door widths suitable for wheelchair access.
Lifts serve venues across floors (Main Hall, Lower Town Hall, supper/meeting rooms, etc.)
Bathrooms (including accessible toilets and baby-change facilities) are located on the ground/entry level and in other public floors near main event spaces; the Accessibility Guide lists ground-floor accessible toilets and the adult change room with hoist. Please ask venue staff for the nearest accessible bathroom on arrival.
Getting Here
Train
Melbourne Town Hall is in the centre of the CBD and well served by trains and trams.
Town Hall Station is immediately adjacent to / beneath Swanston Street, and is the closest new Metro Tunnel station to the venue. Flinders Street Station is also a short walk away (approx. 300 metres).
Tram
Tram routes 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 are available at stop #11 (level access): Collins Street (approx. 50 metres away)
Tram routes 11, 12, 48 and 109 are available at stop #6 (level access): corner of Melbourne Town Hall and Collins Street (approx. 50 metres away)
Tram routes 86 and 96 are available further up on Swanston Street.
Parking
On-street parking is limited and time-restricted in the CBD. Collins Street has limited accessible on-street parking. Paid off-street parking is available at 233–239 Collins Street (approx. 100 metres from the entrance).

Box Office
There is no MIFF Box Office at IMAX Melbourne in 2026. To buy tickets before the session, please book online or by calling the Box Office on 03 8660 4888.
Food and Beverage
There is a bar/candy bar on the foyer level and, for busy sessions, on the cinema level (lower level). There is step-free/wheelchair access to the foyer-level candy bar via the lift from the Museum plaza. There is no step-free access to the lower-level candy bar. The cinema is licensed.

Forum Melbourne
Melbourne
Forum Melbourne is a live music, cinema, theatre, and event venue located on the corner of Flinders Street and Russell Street in Melbourne CBD. Built in 1929, Forum showcases unique Gothic-Romanesque architecture and features a sky-blue ceiling creating an illusion of an outdoor amphitheatre setting.
Box Office
The MIFF Box Office is located inside Forum on the left-hand side of the ground-floor foyer. Forum has one small step up to the central double doors. Step-free/wheelchair access is via the ramp through the right-hand side set of doors.
Food and Beverage
Forum features a bar/candy bar, located in the mezzanine foyer, for refreshments, snacks, beer and wine.
