Josh Jarman Australia

Marcus Graham is Josh Jarman, a passionate, dedicated playwright who is fed up with his plays being staged in dingy spaces to only a handful of people. His one wish is to have a play staged by a 'real' producer in a 'proper' theatre. While waiting in the offices of hotshot producer Stan Billows (Kim Gyngell), Josh catches the eye of Sasha (Kestie Morassi). Young, attractive and living life at break-neck speed, Sasha seduces Josh and soon the introverted playwright is living a life he has only read about. When Billows decides to stage Josh's play, after initially rejecting it, Josh is understandably ecstatic. When he visits the producer's mansion for a celebratory dinner, he understands why his play was chosen'sasha is Billows' daughter.

With the play undergoing a transformation that's out of his hands, Josh finds solace in his loser flatmate, Russ (Damien Richardson), and a blossoming friendship with new neighbour Maxine (Daniela Farinacci, Lantana, MIFF 2001). As opening day approaches, life for Josh becomes increasingly frantic as he juggles romance, Russ' addiction problems and the fact that his small, intimate play has become an extravaganza! Melbourne filmmaker and actor Pip Mushin injects plenty of spirit into this romantic comedy, which will have its World Premiere at MIFF.

Pip Mushin, Eva Orner, Marcus Graham, Daniela Farinacci, Damien Richardson, Kestie Morassi and Kym Gyngell are guests of the Festival.
